On April 3, I got up out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Before I made it to the doorway and into the hall, I lost my balance and fell, landing on my left hip. I didn't hear a snap or anything, but I knew it was bad. I managed to 'crawl' somehow the entire length of the apartment, on my back, to where my phone was. I called Himself to come home from work to let the EMTs in.

I was given pain IV pain medication on the way to the ER, but it wasn't enough. I was still screaming in pain in the ER to the point where someone who worked there actually came over and told me I was scaring the other patients, so I needed to be quiet. (Uhm, give me better pain control FIRST, you ass!) It ended up being one of the most painful fractured a human can have - a femur that was not only fractured, but displaced, too.

On April 4, I was wheeled into an Operating Room to have a pin placed in the bone to reattach the head of the femur back to the rest of it.It actually counts as a 'hip fracture'.

Stupid kidney Failure. Stupid osteoporosis. Stupid American Healthcare system.

It's been a really long, tough, painful road. And there's still more road to go. But I've survived this much of it.
