The Air Force Thungerbirds (?) just flew over this part of Austin. I deliberately live minutes away from a Hospital and medical center since I spend so much time needing medical attention. It's nice that during the Pandemic so many are going out of their way to Thank the people doing the heavy lifting now. This is in no way a war. It's a plague, and the military can't really do anything during plague.

If only we were more appreciative of our healthcare workers more often...

The Governor issued an Executive Order to start re-opeing the state before the end of May, but the city and county extended thier stay at home order. Dumb Governor, smart city. The city can't supercede the Order, but it can strongly suggest people do the Smart thing. The State AG has already sent a letter to Austin warning them of this. Politics as usual in Texas. The state doesn't want to be "bullied" by the Federal Government, but they have no problem turning around and Bullying the smaller governments. It's been this way since literally the beginning of the state.

Finally got all the plants repotted, and the cat grass is sprouting. It took it less than 7 days to poke through the soil - I was a little surprised at the quick germination. Livia has already mown it once, so it's a much bigger hit than the catnip was! The cactus is showing new growth too.

Still drifting. I don't have any idea when the new laptop wil arrive, then I'm not sure exactly how I'll get it set up for my needs. So yay for not having a clue about when I can get on with my life...

While the state may have started slowly reopening, I'm still firmly Staying At Home. I think the state is opening up way too fast and way too early. But a Republican Governor in good with the President doesn't really care what I think.

Meanwhile, I'm feeling directionless. Again. What the hell am I doing? Where am I going with my life? I don't want to be coasting through as I seem to be doing so often, but I have no idea how to get where I want to be. I'm not even sure where tat is, other than more financially stable.

I did finally bit the bullet and buy a current technology laptop to replace this ancient (heh) hulk. I'm waiting on it to be shipped from wherever it's coming from. The next hurdle will be getting it set up for my visual accessibility needs, but that's not an issue til it gets here. But after that...? I just don't know.

I did finally start a pot of vat grass from seed last weekend, and repot the cactus. Only one more plant to repot, then everything's done there. I'm thinking I want to start another spider plant since my current one has a couple babies on it that have been protected from the depredations of my feline omnivore. One is directly above the cactus, so she's been ignoring it in favor of the easier to reach ones.

But my knitting project...that is so full of frustration and fail. I just cannot seem to get it going. I almost want to use bigger needles, but the needles I currently have are too big, and I'd rather not buy another set if I can avoid it. Oh well, at some point I'll either give up and try something else, or I'll muscle through.

OMG there's 'cold front' coming through later today that might actually make it COLD for central Texas!!! (Yeah, I am well aware that 40s to 50s aren't truly cold, but what can you do - move north? Hoping to One Day.)

To that end, I have veeb going through yet another small portion of my massive amount of fabric, trying to fill a box with various lengths to get rid of. I actually offered up a kength of black cotton velveteen on my FB friends' list, and had someone speak up in minutes - and since today is her birthday, she's getting it for free. Another friend responded within 24 hours, and since I have a LOT of the stuff, I'll dig out another length for her. Both SCA, so I know it's going to good homes. :)

But YAY! 2 less items to haul on the next move!

(nearing 50 and I'm still not able to settle somewhere. *sigh*So tired of not having some control over who comes into my home or when they can come in.)

We finally got rid of the catnip plant that would not die, but did get incredibly leggy with tiny leaves. Turns out it was the ONLY plant Livia would NOT try to eat! (except for the cactus, but she did investigate the agave several times.) WTF" She loves the spider plant -it's the one she does straight to every time we let her on the patio. She loved the parlor palm too when it was sitting low enough to nibble on - the mexican petunia too. But I'm planning to pot some cat grass seed, and see if she'll give my poor spider plant a break - maybe this weekend
