Yesterday, the Mayor officially announced a Stay at Home, with fines attached if someone is doing anything other than essential activities like grocery or phat, and runs, or going outside to exercise. This does not apply to anyone deemed an "essential worker" though. They can go to work. (Himself has that exemption. yay.)

Considering that, as of yesterday when the order was announced by Austin Public Health, there are less than 100 cases in Travis County, which contains all of Austin proper and then some, this is obviously an attempt to keep us from becoming another Houston or Dallas, where the count is much higher.

Good. This is one of the things that makes me say that Austin is the only part of Texas worth living in. The elected officials care more about their citizens more than the elected officials at the state level do.

Now, if only something could be done about the ridiculous jerrymandering that had to happen to make it so Red...

On the personal level...

Finding it kinda hard to focus and concentrate on anything due to the constant low level of anxiety sitting like a knot in my belly. Not really getting much done other than the monotonous tasks of laundry, dishes, nad tidying.

But at least the ai conditioner is working properly. Yes, we've had to turn it on already - meteorologists keep pointing out this is Climate Change in action. Last night Maintenance refilled the coolant, then this morning they replaced the whole unit - all without needing to come inside and risk exposure to strange people. AAnd it's so lovely now - the a/c isn't constantly running even though it's ridiculously hot outside, and I'm even able to hear a mockingbird singing it's fool head off outside the closed window.
